Well, it's finally over. We have a new President. Regardless of how you feel about Obama he is on his way to the Oval Office and the church is still the church and God is still on His throne. I was going to give a few thoughts about the events of the past few weeks and then I read this post from another blog which I thought has some great insights. I thought you might enjoy it to. You can find it here: www.jdgreear.com under "Nov. 5th My Thoughts on the Election".
Aaron,
Thank you for your post. I know it is difficult for those in the ministry to walk the fine line between church and state, but I appreciate the context in which you shared both in this post and last Sunday during church.
I, like many I know, have a heavy heart about this election. Even though we know that God is in control and it is our own hearts that matter the most, it is still frustrating to feel that our country is moving in a direction that is out of alignment with biblical principles. I think it is okay to feel this way while keeping perspective on the things that matter most, as God is our only true hope.
With that said, I hope and pray that a great revival can occur during the next four years! A revival of Christian leaders in our country who fight for fiscal responsibility and family values; a revival of Christians who are UNAPOLOGETIC and willing to stand and fight for human life; and most importantly, a revival of the hearts and souls of the American people!
As the body of the Church, it is time to break the silence and unapologetically stand up for what we know is Truth!

I am very happy to see an African-American elected as president. We have a great opprotunity to heal as a nation, to learn to be our brother's keeper, to put into practice the Christian principles that we so easily talk about. Sure, there are issues that I disagree with the president-elect on, but this was not a single issue election. If you want to see action taken on issues such as abortion, gay marriage
(which confuses me since anyone who is married knows it's not always gay!) and assisted suicide, call and write your legislative people, that is where the laws are passed. The most important thing we can do now, is pray for our new president, his family and for our country.

I want to start off by saying that I come from a house divided. Growing up in a Demoractic family, mainly because "Democrates are for the working people" and I married into a Republican family. This past election was by far the hardest to watch and listen to my family talk about the "changes that come with President Obama". Several of my family (non church goers) were at Traders Point on Sunday, November 2nd. The sermon that you gave could not have been a better sermon for them to hear. I THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I have yet to hear a sermon that I haven't just felt like you were talking to me. Aaron Thank you for following what God has called you to do. You are a true blessing.
